Do I Have The Right To An Attorney?

Everyone has the right to an attorney when facing criminal charges. The question is when does the person get that right. In Oklahoma, the court has determined that a person has no right to speak to a lawyer before deciding whether or not to submit to a chemical test to determine their level of intoxication. All you have to say is yes or no in response to their request to submit to a test. You do not have to answer any questions about where you have been, what you were doing, how much you had to drink or when you had something to drink. If the officer starts interrogating you about these things, politely tell the officer that you wish to talk to a lawyer before you answer any questions and that you will take a test.
